Changing your username, adding aliases, and the difference between deactivating and deleting.
Changing your username
Your username is your address, so changing it changes every link anyone has to your page. There is a cooldown between changes for exactly that reason.
The name you leave goes back into the pool immediately. If you want to keep it pointing at you, make it an alias before you change.
Aliases
An alias is a second name that answers to the same page. xyst.wtf/alias loads your profile and sends the visitor on to your real address, so there is one page and one set of numbers behind however many names.
An alias cannot be a name someone else has registered, and it cannot be one of the reserved words. Everywhere your username works, an alias works too, including the JSON and the README card.
Deactivating or deleting
Two different doors, in the danger zone at the bottom of Settings.
Deactivation is yours to undo when you chose it yourself. A page taken down by moderation is not: signing in does not lift it, and the ban has to run out or be lifted by the team.
