Badges
Every badge on xyst.wtf, how each one is earned, and which land automatically.
The catalogue
Badges sit under your name on your page. There are 11 in the catalogue, and each one says how it is earned.
Automatic or granted
An automatic badge lands the moment you qualify, and it is checked when you open your dashboard rather than by a job that runs later. Link Discord, come back, and the badge is already there.
The rest are granted by the team. Being helpful in the Discord server, or supporting the site, is judged by a person, which is exactly why those are not automatic.
OG is granted at the moment an account confirms its email, so the count is of finished signups rather than of claimed names. Tastemaker counts the likes on all of your templates together, and lands on the like that reaches the total.
Badges in Discord
Link your Discord account and the server keeps up with your badges on its own, in both directions.
The badge is what decides the role, not the other way around, so a role given out by hand is taken back again. Unlink Discord and both stop: the roles come off and the booster badge goes with them.
Roles follow what you own rather than what you show, so hiding a badge on your page leaves your role exactly where it is.
Choosing what to show
Owning a badge and showing it are two different things. Every badge you have has a switch in Your Badges, and turning one off takes it off your page without giving it up.
Hidden badges stay out of the JSON and off your README card too, since both carry exactly what your page shows.
Custom badges
A custom badge is one that exists on your profile alone: you name it and you upload its icon. It is bought rather than earned, and one purchase is one badge, so a second badge is a second purchase.
An animated GIF stays animated as a badge icon. A slot with no icon yet wears an outline star until you upload one.
